Benjamin graduated from the Xavier University of Louisiana in 2002, with a major in Political Science. Benjamin obtained his law degree from the Howard University School of Law. After graduation, Benjamin served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Clifton J. Gordy, Chief Judge to the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Following this, he joined the Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City as an Assistant State's Attorney. While at the State's Attorney's Office, Benjamin was the first chair prosecutor for over thirty jury trials.
