Mariel graduated from State University of New York College at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. Mariel went on to obtain her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship and graduated with honors. While attending law school, Mariel was involved as the coordinator of the Student Mentor Program. Mariel gained experience working as a legal intern at a firm in Rochester, New York and as a student attorney in the Disability Rights Advocacy Clinic.
