Patricia Fecile-Moreland of the Philadelphia office presented an in-service to teachers of the Stratford Friends School. The topic of the in-service was sexual harassment and the seminar covered issues unique to schools in the context of sexual harassment allegations. The presentation delved into a school's potential liability for sexual harassment between students and teachers under Title IX. The seminar also addressed strategies for school administration and teachers in response to claims of harassment. In addition, issues of employee v. employee harassment claims and liabiltiy under Title VII were addressed. Finally, the seminar covered emerging issues of social media and its impact on teacher and student relationships and the growing response by schools across the nation to cut-off contact between students and teachers in cyberspace.
